presentation

In August, 2005 I received a Space Flight Awareness Honoree Award in recognition of my dedication, commitment, and my achievements in support of NASA's space program. In 2006 I received a Certificate of Distinction from the Canadian Space Agency for my work on "SSRMS Hot Back" a new feature of the SSRMS to allow it to capture a Free-Flyer.

From 2000 to 2004 I worked full time at MD Robotics on the System Integrated Test Environment designing and developing the Mobile Base System (MBS) simulator and other simulation units for Canadarm2 (SSRMS) and the Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulator (SPDM). The MBS, SSRMS, and SPDM make up the three components of the Mobile Servicing System which is Canada's contribution to the International Space Station. From 2004 to 2007 I transitioned to the Systems group at MDA where I worked as a software safety engineer, Engineering Support Lead in the CSA Operations Engineering Center (OEC) supporting real-time operations during docked shuttle operations to the ISS, and was the technical lead developing the concepts and final designs for the “Hot Backup” operations to capture the Japanese HTV cargo vehicle at the ISS.

In October 2007 I joined the Mission Development Group at COM DEV as the Software Systems Lead working on nano- and micro-satellite designs. Current tasks include:

  • Technical Lead for the M3MSat Command and Data Handling Subassembly – Responsible for reviewing and approving all C&DH related architecture, requirements, design and Command/Telemetry documents.
  • Technical Lead for the M3MSat Communications Node and FGPA firmware design.
  • Technical Lead for the ADS-1B Communications Node FPGA Design – Responsible for interfacing with the Customer, reviewing documentation, writing the test procedures and reviewing final formal test results.
  • Engineering Model hardware/software flatsat integration.
